This is a highly trusted supporting role that helps ensure board and administrative operations remain organized, timely, and well-coordinated.  </p><p>You’ll also support the Mensa Foundation and provide coordination across membership distribution and office operations. If you’re known for discretion, organization, and shepherding efficiency, this role is for you.  </p><p><strong>What you’ll do</strong>  </p><p><strong>Administration &amp; Office Support</strong>  </p><ul>  <li>Prepare      correspondence, presentations, reports, briefing materials, and executive      communications.  </li><li>Coordinate      meetings, schedules, action items, deadlines, and follow-ups.  </li><li>Coordinate      organizational reporting cycles and help maintain executive dashboards to      support performance monitoring and progress toward strategic priorities.  </li><li>Serve      as a liaison among the Executive Director, staff, volunteers, board      leadership, and external stakeholders.  </li><li>Conduct      basic research and gather information to support executive decision-making      and meeting preparation.  </li><li>Maintain      confidential files and sensitive information with strict discretion. </li></ul><p><strong>Board Governance Coordination &amp; Records Management</strong>  </p><ul>  <li>Coordinate      American Mensa Board Committee meetings, briefings, retreats, and      governance activities.  </li><li>Prepare      and distribute board packets and supporting materials.  </li><li>Maintain,      update, and/or archive official board records (minutes, policies,      governance documents).  </li><li>Track      board motions, action items, and governance deadlines.  </li><li>Maintain      governance calendars, committee rosters, and leadership records.  </li><li>Support      board onboarding, orientation, and governance development initiatives. </li></ul><p><strong>Mensa Foundation Administrative Support</strong>  </p><ul>  <li>Coordinate      Foundation Board meetings and logistics.  </li><li>Prepare/distribute      Foundation meeting materials and reports.  </li><li>Maintain      Foundation governance records and official documentation.  </li><li>Support      Foundation leadership communications and administrative processes.  </li><li>Assist      with Foundation projects and operational follow-up as assigned. </li></ul><p><strong>Distribution, Office Operations &amp; Administrative Membership Support</strong>  </p><ul>  <li>Support      membership administrative functions, projects, and operational workflows.  </li><li>Maintain      filing systems, document repositories, records management practices, and      SOPs.  </li><li>Coordinate      office operations, supplies, vendor interactions, and administrative      logistics.  </li><li>Handle      mailings, fulfillment, and distribution of organizational materials in a      timely manner.  </li><li>Support      enterprise-wide administrative projects and operational initiatives as      assigned. </li></ul><p><strong>What you bring</strong>  </p><p><strong>Education</strong>  </p><ul>  <li>Associate      or bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, or      related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and      experience). </li></ul><p><strong>Experience</strong>  </p><ul>  <li>3–5 years of experience in administration, board support, or      office operations.  </li><li>Nonprofit,      association, or membership-based organization experience strongly      preferred.  </li><li>Experience      with meeting management and records administration. </li></ul><p><strong>Skills &amp; competencies</strong>  </p><ul>  <li>Exceptional      organization skills; able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and      stakeholders.  </li><li>High      professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.  </li><li>Strong      written/verbal communication; The department oversees membership operations, admissions and testing, onboarding, member experience, Gifted Youth membership, local group support, and affiliate partnerships.  </p><p>Serving as the central intake point for prospective members, the department works across the organization to convert prospects, connect members to the Mensa community, and strengthen long-term engagement.</p><p><strong>POSITION SUMMARY</strong>  </p><p>The <strong>Director of Membership Growth and Connection</strong> leads strategies to achieve membership, testing, and related revenue goals. The Director is accountable for results across the membership lifecycle, including testing, prospect conversion, onboarding, engagement, renewal, and retention.  </p><p>The Director leads a team of four and oversees membership operations, admissions, customer experience, and local group support. Retention Strategy</strong>  </p><ul><li>Oversee onboarding and early member engagement strategies, including the national 90-day member connection experience   </li><li>Develop and oversee strategies to improve member renewal and retention.   </li><li>Identify members at risk of lapsing and guide targeted retention efforts.   </li><li>Monitor renewal performance and activate improvements.   </li><li>Manage and expand affiliate partnerships to enhance membership value and support retention.  </li></ul><p><strong>Membership Operations &amp; Data</strong></p><ul><li>Monitor membership lifecycle, conversion, retention, and engagement metrics.   </li><li>Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and the member experience.   </li><li>Lead membership forecasting, pipeline visibility, and lifecycle performance reporting to support organizational planning and growth objectives</li></ul><p><strong>Admissions Strategy &amp; Oversight</strong></p><ul><li>Oversee the admissions review function, ensuring applications and qualifying evidence are evaluated consistently according to governance-established requirements.  </li><li>Partner with admissions experts to review processes and identify opportunities for improvement.  </li><li>Advise organizational leadership on admissions requirements, testing practices, and prior evidence options.  </li><li>Partner with testing and admissions stakeholders to maintain the integrity of the admissions process.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Local Group &amp; Chapter Support</strong></p><ul><li>Provide oversight and guidance for the national strategy for local group/chapter support, ensuring a consistent, high-quality member experience.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong>  </p><p><strong>Education</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related field required.</li></ul><p><strong>Experience</strong></p><ul><li>7–10 years of progressive experience, including managing a team, in membership association or other non-profit customer success management role or related industries.  </li><li>Demonstrated success driving membership growth, conversion, and retention in a nonprofit or association setting.  </li><li>Experience with AMS platforms (Salesforce, NetForum, MemberClicks, or similar) and CRM tools.  </li><li>Experience managing chapter or affiliate networks strongly preferred.</li></ul><p><strong>Skills &amp; Competencies</strong></p><ul><li>Deep understanding of membership lifecycle management and member-centric service design.   </li><li>AI fluency and responsible use of emerging technologies to improve member service, engagement, and operational efficiency.  </li><li>Strong analytical skills;
